LAKE OSWEGO WHITE COMPOSITE FILLINGS

White Composite Fillings

Advances in technology have helped to create a biomimetic structure known as white composite filling to work within the biological system of the mouth when fixing broken or damaged teeth and to mimic the natural environment of the mouth by having the same look and feel of real teeth. In addition to having a great, natural look, white composite fillings have not been shown to cause any additional harm later on.

Dental amalgam, otherwise known as silver filling, has been used in the past for its durability and

longevity. However, over time it has proven to corrode and fracture teeth, lead to decay and is considered unattractive to look at. The oral fluids found in our mouths often cause the dental amalgam to corrode and leak, thus breaking the seal between the existing tooth structure and the silver filling. Eventually, cavities can begin to form between the corroded amalgam and tooth structure where the broken seal exists. Once this begins, it doesn't take long for a process of decay to set in. Dental amalgam has also shown to slowly expand over time, causing small fractures in the existing tooth structure. If left unaddressed, the effects are disastrous.

White composite fillings are stronger, safer and more natural looking. So say goodbye to "metal mouth" and hello to a healthy, new smile with white composite fillings.
