Cosmetic dentistry increasingly specialized

Posted on: August 14th, 2013 The following is an excerpt from the article; Board certified prosthodontist Lisa Spink, speaking on behalf of the American College of Prosthodontists, says cosmetic dentistry is becoming increasingly specialized, with further schooling beyond the standard Doctorate of Dental Medicine or Dental Surgery degree. "It's competitive to specialize in dentistry," says Spink, whose practice is in Lake Oswego, Ore. "As prosthodontists, we're the only ADA recognized specialty that focuses on cosmetic dental procedures like veneers and crowns." Dr. Zachton Lowe of highly rated Simons and Lowe Orthodontics says preliminary research is vital, whether you're looking for an orthodontist or dentist: He recommends asking for word-of-mouth referrals from patients or, when necessary, second opinions.
